Destiny's Child is one of
the biggest selling female groups, ever. Their combined record sales total over
40 million records, worldwide. Their albums debut at the top of the charts,
and stay there. They've racked up enumerable industry awards, accolades and
platinum or gold records. Not only is this group successful, but its individual
members have all had superlative solo achievements and as a result, they are
what modern female pop/R&B is meant to sound, feel and sell like.
So why are they breaking up?
Rumors have been going around that the group
is going to break up. Why? Is it true? Well, this is what the group had to say:
"After a lot of discussion and some deep soul searching, we realized that
our current tour has given us the opportunity to leave Destiny's Child on a
high note united in our friendship and filled with an overwhelming gratitude
for our music, our fans and each other. After all these wonderful years working
together, we realized that now is the time to pursue our personal goals and
solo efforts. No
matter what happens, we will always love each other as friends and sisters and
will always support each other as artists."
Ladies and gentlemen, the rumors are true.
The multi-platinum selling group is soon to be over. For some reason, though,
we have a feeling that we have seen nothing yet.
